Katie Scorgie – Fine Artist
Welcome to my website. Thank you for taking the time to visit.
I have been painting full time since graduating with a Degree in Fine Art from Plymouth University in 2000. I am a well established fine artist with equestrian, landscape and canine being my main subjects.
Having ridden for most of my life, including in point to points, I have an unconscious knowledge of horses which comes out in my portrayal of all things equine.
My style is said to be unique and instantly recognisable, which I achieve through instinctive, vigorous mark-making, strong draughtsmanship and channelling, bringing the essence and spirit of my subjects alive. Whatever the subject matter, whether landscape or equestrian, everything in the composition is treated equally and my hope is that viewers feel they could be standing at that moment in time, as well as enjoying the brush strokes of the painting in their own right.
I have exhibited widely and my most notable commission to date was being Artist in Residence to the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment during 2011-2012, the year of the Royal Wedding between the Prince and Princess of Wales, culminating in an exhibition at the Hyde Park Barracks.
My workshop and gallery at my home in Hinton St Mary, North Dorset, is open all year round and I welcome commissions: equine, canine and landscape.

Below is a recent video to celebrate Women’s Day on 8th March 2025, created by the talented Zizzy Studio team (@zizzy.studios) – brilliantly edited and fun to take part in at Hinton Workspace (@hintonworkspace) – please click on the image to view the video on Instagram.
I was thrilled when John Newth, editor of ‘The Dorset Year Book 2025’ for the Society of Dorset Men, contacted me last year to ask if he may interview me for a feature article in it. A really well written piece which is copied below. The book is available from bookstores throughout Dorset including the Udder Farm Shop at East Stour. More info may be found on their website at www.societyofdorsetmen.co.uk
I am now offering paintings on an instalment basis if this is desired. Just click on the payment option that you would prefer. Paintings will be sent out on receipt of the final payment. Postage for paintings to the UK is free. For overseas postage please ask for a quote.
On the ‘Paintings’ and ‘Landscapes’ pages, when you click on an image, if it is framed, an image will come up to show that.
I also have some paintings in the wonderful 1855 in Sturminster Newton, along with my prints and greetings cards (1855 opening times: Mon to Fri – 10am-5pm and Sat 10am-4pm).

Enquire about Commissions
I feel it is an honour to do a commission for someone – that they have entrusted you to capture exactly the feel, essence and likeness of whatever they have commissioned. I very much enjoy this process from start to finish – meeting the animal or landscape (or not if it is not possible), and making sure the customer gets exactly what they would like.
